DRUG DEVELOPMENT PIPELINE

Our two therapeutic candidates were obtained from screening ~15,000 compounds for the desired effects on mitochondria in cultured neurons. The strongest group of candidates were subsequently assayed in both ALS and Alzheimer's diseased motor neurons and cortical neurons, respectively, with positive results for both. The graph below illustrates the steps towards Phase I clinical trials, that proceeds through early preclinical research, optimization of the therapeutic candidates, and Investigational New Drug (IND)-enabling research prior to beginning clinical trials.

Chemical optimization of the therapeutic candidates and tests for efficacy in mouse models are continuing.
